With So May Impressive Accomplishments, We Urge Bass to Consider What His Legacy Will Be!
Dick Bass has an impressive list of accomplishments and adventures under his belt. At age 55, Bass became oldest person to summit Everest, and the first person to reach the seven highest peaks on each continent. Bass’s Snowbird received the Golden Eagle award for working to restore the old Pacific Mine site and eliminate tailings that were impacting the local watershed.
Ironically his PacRim project would mine directly through 11 miles of Salmon Spawning streams, dump millions of gallons of toxic mining waste into the Chuitna watershed each day and emit up to 54 billion pounds of carbon dioxide threatening snow packs globally. With so many impressive accomplishments, we urge Bass to consider what his legacy will be!

Community Footprint :: 2009 Climate Change In Park City Report
Climate change caused by greenhouse gases (GHGs) has long been a concern of snow-dependent industries, as changes in snow and ice are predicted to be some of the first effects of a warming climate (Barry et al., 2007; Lemke et al., 2007; Armstrong and Brun, 2008). Changes to snowpack can impact a range of commercial activities from water resource management to ski area operations (Tegart et al., 1990; Watson et al., 1996; National Assessment Synthesis Team, 2000; McCarthy et al., 2001; Barry et al., 2007; Lemke et al., 2007). For example, several studies have analyzed the effects of potential climate change on ski areas and winter tourism, and all of the studies have projected negative consequences for the industry.
